- The reservoir bag acts as a holding chamber for the nebulized medication and prevents the aerosol particles from being vented to the atmosphere
- The one-way valve holds the aerosol inside the reservoir bag until the patient actively inhales
- It aerosolizes medication into a particle size that is between 0.9 and 1.2 microns. It also includes a resistor cap on the exhalation side
