Deutsch Cook - BEST TUBE EVER MADE

I had my tube placed after surgery first week of January 2003. I have used all the different styles of tubes since.

ALL tubes I rate on a scale of 1-10 in the range of 2-4.
This tube I rate at a good solid 9.

It is not BULKY like ALL OTHER tubes, which have an extremely obnoxious BULKY HEAVY connector end which cause pain in many ways. This Deutsch Cook Catheter, Locking Loop tube is very LIGHTWEIGHT, SOFT, very DURABLE, and extremely LONG LASTING, unlike any other tube hands down.

I have had them last over 4 years, and the only reason I replaced them was I got hung up on something while hooked up and broke the locking string when it pulled out, but still I reinserted them and continued using until I got tired using tape to hold them in, The BALLOON types are nearly impossible to hold them in with tape due to WEIGHT and BULK.

I am not happy that these were DISCONTINUED. The IDIOTS who design these tubes have NO IDEA of what COMFORT is. OR, they don't want us to have QUALITY COMFORTABLE and LONG LASTING TUBES. They really need to sit down with EXPERIENCED USERS of feeding tubes BEFORE they attempt to DESIGN one. I have had NG Tubes a few times in my life, and January 2025 will be 22 years with a P.E.G. Tube. That means I am going on the equivalent of a 3rd MASTERS degree for FEEDING TUBES. Not one designer can shake a stick at what I know.

Lastly, I want to help others with feeding tubes understand, DO NOT FEAR YOUR TUBE! The simplest analogy is that they are like a STRAW in a MILKSHAKE CUP. Do you want a BULKY STRAW, or a light weight streamlined highly efficient long lasting straw? AND, if you have a problem, DON'T PANIC, there is nothing to PANIC ABOUT. If by chance it gets pulled out, gently put it in again and TAPE it in place, you don't want to leave it out, your stomach opening will gradually start to close.

The easiest to reinsert are the BALLOON types because they are STRAIGHT, this COOK LOCKING LOOP is curved and requires you to hold the tip straight and insert slowly, and then extract a bit of stomach content to be sure you have it in your stomach, but don't worry, it is easy, as the accidental pulling out is generally during a feed so you do have formula in your stomach easily know if it is in place. I put a video on youtube years ago called feeding tube accident, and you can see the process with a locking loop type tube.
