I have had chronic joint problems requiring a brace and special orthotics for many years. I am an avid hiker and have endured ankle pain to maintain fitness and stay on the trail. The BOA closure system, is far superior to traditional lace-up braces because it hugs the ankle and can be easily adjusted on the go. I have purchased two and have removed the external lateral and medial straps on one with no discernable loss of ankle bracing. I use this brace over good hiking socks which cover a compression ankle brace and this “system" comfortably fits the orthotic I use in my shoes and boots. This works for hiking and everyday use. In summary, I am very pleased with this product as it will prolong my mobility and exercise program and allow me to enjoy nearly pain free hiking. I am in my eighty-second year and anticipate hiking on many new trails.
