The MAXAIR CAPR® System filter designations indicate they meet the NIOSH HE approval for PAPR filtration. Additionally, for Shroud and Hood configurations, they meet the HAPF, APF of 1000, criteria. Assigned Protection Factor (APF) means the workplace level of respiratory protection that a respirator or class of respirators is expected to provide to employees when the employer implements a continuing, effective respiratory protection program. OSHA states that all cuff configurations receive an APF of 25 protection rating. N95 respirators only carry an APF rating of 10, assuming they are fit tested and being worn properly.
The MAXAIR System provides two filter options for users depending on preference. Both offer the same level of particulate filtration, however, the 2166-10 Nuisance Organic Vapor (N-OV) Filter Cartridge is a HE filter combined with charcoal odor filtration to provide an additional level of comfort and convenience. Because the odor filtration is accomplished utilizing charcoal, it is important to place the filter in an airtight container in between uses. This will ensure the life of your odor filter to roughly thirty active days.
